Congratulations to Oblander4cachers for #1000 !

Posted by herkenham on April 6, 2009

On Saturday, April 4, 2009, Oblander4cachers passed the #1000 milestone. They found GC33FE “Cache Cow”, at Lake Texoma in Texas. The other interesting fact about this is that they accomplished this feat within their first year of caching! Their comment to me in an email was this:

We primarily only cache on weekends and have been pushing hard to get 1000 finds in before the first year was up. Obviously it went down to the wire but we conquered it.

Congratulations!

On another note, I think I’ve seen that profile picture somewhere else. It isn’t very original. :)

A Few Fun Fotos From FallFest Fact Finding Foray

Posted by herkenham on April 5, 2009

These photos were taken on April 4 during a reconnaissance trip to Robber’s Cave to plan for FallFest.

Captain Crash looks out over an incredible view from behind the lodge.
The redbud trees are in bloom now near the cave. This was a great area to climb around on the rocks and bluffs, but keep a careful eye on the little ones.
OkiePaladin came armed with an excellent video camera to capture video to share with Oklahoma cachers.
Kalli4na came very prepared with a backpack. You aren’t likely to catch her off guard on a caching trip.
The dogwood trees are in very satisfying full bloom this time of year. Wow!
Mrs. OkiePaladin was walking around inside the cool overhangs and crevices near the cave.
Herkenham of "The OxFoxes" enjoys a wonderful springlike day at Robber’s Cave with geocaching friends.
Wildlife was present in abundance. We saw a few ticks too. Maybe this lizard will eat a few of the ticks before FallFest!
Kalli4na really must watch what she is doing when she walks along the bluffs. That GPSr would also be easier to read if she turned it right side up. :) (No actual Kalli4na's were harmed during the taking of this photograph.)
The group is studying a map to figure out where all the FallFest caches might get hidden along the trails.
Captain Crash has many, many talents.
OkiePalidin looks through the contents of a cache while Kalli4na looks on.
Mrs. OkiePaladin peeks out from within a cool comfortable crevice near the caves!
Is that Kalli4na's head? She moonlights as a shapeshifter.
Lights, Camera, Action! Retake! Repeat 5 more times. We have to get this video right!
The view overlooking the valley below the bluffs above the cave was absolutely breath-taking. Can you imagine a better day to be here?
What sorts of flowers are these? I do not think they are violets, but they are definitely pleasant to behold.
Kalli4na gets ready to descend another treacherous cliff face. She laughs in the face of danger.
I could not get enough of those dogwood blooms. They just kept calling my camera back to take another shot.
Supper time at a great Chinese food buffet in Muskogee on the way back home! What an awesome day!
