Thank you for asking permission to place a geocache in a Tulsa Parks facility!
Procedure:
The Tulsa Parks Department requests that you ask permission before you place your cache. If your hiding place will involve any of the park’s gardens, then you must also arrange to meet with one of the horticulture staff to choose the site. We ask that you help the park be a good neighbor by not placing a cache so close to a fence line that geocachers might accidentally cross other peoples’ property or incite dogs to bark at all hours. Be sure to read Geocaching.com’s guidelines about not drilling into trees or structures or digging holes; that is considered vandalism in a park.
We ask that you post information about park curfews on the cache description. Also, most parks allow pets on leashes, but Oxley Nature Center, Redbud Valley Nature Preserve, and the Tulsa Zoo do not allow pets at all. Oxley Nature Center allows bicycles on the paved roads but not on the trails. Redbud Valley Nature Preserve does not allow bicycles on the trails. Mohawk Park has an entry fee on weekends during seven months of the year. A few parks have other special rules. That kind of information is greatly appreciated, especially by out-of-town cachers.
The people to contact for permission are as follows:
Tulsa Parks in general: Donna Horton: donnahorton@cityoftulsa.org 918-669-6644
Tulsa Parks horticulture: Maureen Turner: maureenturner@cityoftulsa.org 918-669-6644
As of January 2009, the south Tulsa turnpike trail between Riverside and Memorial Drive is being maintained by the Tulsa Parks Department.
City of Tulsa Surface Drainage: Roy Teeters: rteeters@cityoftulsa.org 918-591-4330 (many of the storm water retention pond areas fall into his jurisdiction)
http://www.cityoftulsa.org/Public+Works
Places like Lake Yahola and Lynn Lane Reservoir fall under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department. They may be a little nervous at having something placed near our drinking water supplies, but you might start with the number for the Water Treatment Plants (596-9848) to find out who to talk with. Some areas are open to the public; other areas are not.
Public Works also has a number listed for cemeteries: 591-4325. It rings to an office for Surface Drainage and Vegetation. This might be a good place to start for some of the small, old cemeteries around town.

Placement of a cache in River Parks for the purpose of geocaching requires permission by the River Parks Authority.
